Hey, I'm Chelsea.

I'm a Chicago wedding photographer and videographer who's on a mission to take the stress out of wedding planning, one anecdote, gif, and movie
quote at a time.

While most of Chicago was gathered around watching the Air and Water Show, I was photographing this fun, Boho wedding at Walden Chicago with Ed and Aileen Photography.

While Aileen was photographing the girls in Walden’s bridal suite, I kicked the day off with the guys at the Gwen. If you’re looking for a hotel downtown, I highly recommend the Gwen. Their suites are absolutely gorgeous and surprisingly spacious, which is hard to come by in the city.

After a quick toast, we loaded onto the trolley for a first look on Walden’s rooftop. I absolutely love that Walden always lets couples use the rooftop for wedding photos.

This means you can sneak upstairs for :

  • Your first look
  • Wedding party photos
  • Sunset portraits
  • An impromptu champagne spray

There’s nothing better than having a go-to photo location on-site. Especially one with a skyline view.

Downtown Chicago Wedding Photos

After soaking up some quiet moments alone on Walden’s rooftop, we loaded back on the trolley and headed downtown for some wedding party photos.

In this case, we went with some Chicago classics: Wrigley Building, Michigan Ave, and the Chicago Theater.

Walden Chicago Wedding Ceremony

Back at Walden, we had signature cocktails + a sunset ceremony waiting for us.

One thing to note: Walden’s ceremony windows face east + west. So if you want a sunset ceremony, know that the lighting will come dramatically from one side.

In this case, I think it worked out *chef’s kiss* perfectly.

Walden Chicago Wedding Reception

And then there’s the pièce de résistance: Walden’s reception space.

This plant-lover drools every time I get to hang out with their fiddle leaf figs, but I love that this decor took it a step further by incorporating tropical leaves & greenery into the reception decor.

It took the traditional boho vibe and elevated it to something fun and fresh—just like this couple and their jam-packed dance floor.

Pro Tip: Have your planner/coordinator/BFF stash some comfy shoes at your head table. I love that Walden’s planners take the extra initiative to think ahead and do this. Your reception feet will thank you.
