Nothing beats a Chicago Riverwalk wedding. When it comes to riverfront wedding venues, River Roast is one of the best spots. So when Maria Harte Photography asked me to tag along to second shoot this fun-meets-traditional wedding, it was an obvious yes.
Getting Ready at the Renaissance Downtown
The wedding day kicked off at the Renaissance Downtown—one of my favorite hotels to get ready at in the loop. The location is in the center of everything, the suits are spacious, and you can’t beat that natural light. It’s really a win-win-win.
Downtown Chicago Wedding Photos
After walking down the aisle (pause to appreciate the excited faces and ring fidgeting), we went out to take wedding photos at some classic Chicago spots: Olive Park and Wrigley Building.
Maria nailed the full wedding party photos, but I loved being able to capture some of these details and in-between moments of the couple.
A Riverfront Wedding at River Roast
While guests mingled on the outdoor patio, Maria and I set to work photographing the reception space. This specific River Roast wedding took place in the Murdoch Room—my personal favorite.
Clean linens, a minimal white cake, and white florals were blended together with string lights, greenery, and wooden table numbers. It created a look that really complimented River Roasts’ brick walls and riverfront views.
Once guests admired all the pretty details, the sentimental moments took center stage. From formal dances under twinkling lights to toasts that held everyone’s attention, it was the perfect evening.
