I’ll let you in on a little secret. This gorgeous fall wedding at Mercantile Hall was never supposed to happen.
I had plans to second shoot this adorable couple for Ed and Aileen Photography on March 28th, 2020. But Illinois’ “Stay at Home” order had other plans in mind.
They weren’t able to have the wedding they’d been dreaming of. But they did have a marriage license. Since the world was full of uncertainties, they went ahead and got married on their original date. Their best man and maid of honor stood by their side (6 feet away) and family members celebrated via Zoom.
7 months later, they finally got to celebrate with family and friends at Mercantile Hall.
Like all COVID couples, postponing brought on a new series of challenges. The biggest one? Their original wedding venue not being available for their new date. That’s how this March wedding in Illinois became an October wedding in Wisconsin. But this couple took all the challenges in stride.
They were able to honor their original wedding—like the groom wearing a jacket with their original date.
They also embraced the changes—like serving up cans of FVCK COVID and sneaking out at sunset to take their *pregnancy announcement* photos.
Pro-tip for brides in their first trimester: order opaque bridal tumblers from Etsy, like these or these. They are a great way to sip on “champagne” all day if you’re still keeping it a secret from your wedding party. And for speeches during dinner? Your bartender can make a convincing champagne look-alike out of ginger ale & juice.
This Mercantile Hall wedding wasn’t the day they’d originally planned. But it just goes to show that the important thing is being able to get married & celebrate with your loved ones.
