Hey, I'm Chelsea.

I'm a Chicago wedding photographer and videographer who's on a mission to take the stress out of wedding planning, one anecdote, gif, and movie
quote at a time.

Timeless doesn’t have to be stuffy. Don’t believe me? Well, take a peek at this classic Armour House wedding that I shot alongside Maria Harte Photography

While Maria photographed the girls getting ready on one end of the Armour House, I got to hang out with the guys on the other side. Once everyone was dressed and the rain let up, we made our way to Armour House’s lawn for the ceremony.

An Armour House Outdoor Ceremony Turned Family Affair

The thing I love most about ceremonies is seeing how people make them one-of-a-kind. These two decided to incorporate their family members as much as possible.

In this case, the couple’s son played at the edge of the Armour House’s reflection pond (under the watchful eye of the wedding party) while the groom’s father officiated the wedding.

If you’re thinking about having a family member marry you, check out these amazing officiant journals (created by my favorite wedding officiant, Liz Rae & Co). They’re full of prompts to help them write a personalized wedding ceremony.

The Perfect Wedding Photo Backdrops

The best part about having an Armour House wedding is the fact that you have gorgeous grounds at your disposal for wedding photos.

Sure, we’d taken some full wedding party photos earlier in the day. But the magic really happens when you can sneak off during cocktail hour for some quick golden hour photos.

You’d never guess that wedding guests were enjoying apps and signature cocktails 100 feet away.

An Armour House Wedding Reception

The reception is where this wedding truly shined. Everything about the decor—from a simple cake to all-white florals—screamed timeless, but that didn’t stop everyone’s personality from shining through in the photos.

This couple wasn’t afraid to be themselves during cake cutting (and enjoy every last chunk of frosting), before settling in for some light-hearted toasts.

Then, once the champagne flutes were empty and the dinner entrees were cleared, some emotional formal dances kicked off the party.

All in all, this wedding was the perfect bridge between elegance and playfulness.
