When it came to picking a wedding venue, Cafe Brauer held a special place in Kelci + Adam’s heart. After meeting on a vacation in Martinique, the two kicked off their long-distnace relationship. And every time Kelci would visit Chicago, they’d go for a walk around the boardwalk and pass by Cafe Brauer.
As the years progressed, they bought their home in Lincoln Park, began discussing marriage, Cafe Brauer always came up as their dream venue—especially since they continued the tradition of taking a walk around the boardwalk.
Cafe Brauer was always a sentimental part of their love story, and they managed to turn a Chicago landmark into the most vibrant, whimsical wedding that was undeniably them. Don’t believe me? See for yourself:
A Cafe Brauer Wedding
Getting Ready with Personal Touches
Everything about Kelci + Adam wedding details were an Art Deco dream. I mean, come on—the bridal robe? Kelci’s hairpiece? Adam’s floral tie? Kelci’s party-in-the-back wedding dress?? The special touches just kept coming. But my personal favorite detail was Adam’s cufflinks of the couple’s cats.
Once everyone was dressed and ready, the couple headed over to a small green space off Lincoln for one of the most emotional first looks I’ve seen in a long time (and I loved every second of it).
A Honeycomb Ceremony Overlooking Chicago
Words will never describe how special it is that Kelci and Adam got married at the Honeycomb—a Lincoln Park staple in the heart of the nature boardwalk. You know, the very boardwalk where they’d walk early on in their relationship. I get chills thinking about how special that must have felt and I tear up a little bit thinking about how every time they take a walk down that boardwalk, they’ll remember how they swapped vows in front of the Chicago skyline, surrounded by loved ones and colorful wildflowers.
A Whimsical Art Deco Reception
Those colorful wildflowers helped tie in the colorful, whimsical florals at their reception space, where their Grand Budapest Hotel wedding vision came to life. And that colorful, whimsical decor perfectly transitioned into one of the best dance floors I’ve seen in all my years of photographing weddings.
This group kept the dance floor packed all the way until the last dance—American Pie. And once the room cleared out at midnight, Kelci and Adam shared one last private dance before a sparkler exit.
All-in-all, it was the perfect example of a personality-packed wedding.
Kind Words from the Couple
“We loved working with Chelsea! From the moment we first talked to her, it felt like we were friends. She was super professional, and amazing to work with. We can’t wait to get our videos back. From what we’ve seen so far, they’re bound to be truly epic. Chelsea managed to be right by our sides the entire day, capturing every moment, soaking it all in with us. She really added a lot to our wedding experience, and we couldn’t have done it without her!! Highly recommend!!”
