Back in 2013, while I was living abroad in Rome, my parents took in Monica, a high school exchange student from Bari. The Italian swap led to a tight-knit bond between our families - while my parents took Monica under their wing, I stayed in touch with Monica's family overseas (and spent the weekend with her older sister, Marghi). When I found out Marghi would be studying abroad in San Francisco 2 years later, I knew I had to fly out to visit her. To sweeten the deal, we made sure to fly out the same weekend Monica was visiting (because two Italians are better than one).
Below are the highlights of the trip, including (but not limited to) Pier 39, Lombard Street, Alcatraz, Muir Woods, and - of course - the Golden Gate Bridge.
